Beginning beekeeping is an introductory course designed to acquaint the students with basic beekeeping. It will provide information on how to enter this hobby and eventually develop it into a satisfying and possibly profitable endeavor. Students will be given a brief history and overview of the subject along with the equipment and management practices necessary to be successful. Contemporary issues facing beekeepers such as diseases, Colony Collapse Disorder, and the role of bees as pollinators will also be covered.
