Julie Obermark has been named as the new Vice President of Instructional Services at Kaskaskia College. Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees approved the recommendation to hire Obermark immediately during the March BOT meeting.

Obermark brings over nine years of leadership experience in community college education and professional nursing. Obermark has strong and validated experience in instructional services, as she has served as a full-time faculty member, associate dean and currently serves as KC’s Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences. Before being employed at KC full-time, Obermark was the Director of Surgical Services and Director of Quality Improvement & Patient Experience at HSHS St. Joseph’s in Highland.

“I am beyond thrilled for this decision,” said KC President George Evans. “Julie possesses all the characteristics and attributes necessary to take the instructional services division to the next level at KC.”

Evans noted that he has had the pleasure of working with Obermark both as a Dean and as President, and in his observations, she has remained constant in her ability to lead others.

“She brings a high level of integrity and self-accountability to the position, but most importantly, she has a strong moral compass and is incredibly trustworthy,” stated Evans.

“She quickly gains the trust of others through her actions, her demeanor, and her follow-through. She has always been able to verify her ability through her actions, which is an essential component in leadership.”

Obermark has made significant strides during her time as dean to show a proven track record of instructional design by developing the new Health Information Technologies program and a revamp of KC’s Paramedicine program. She has robust experience with accreditation and data-driven decision-making processes.

“When you take these experiences as a Dean and couple that with the skills she has acquired as an executive in the private sector, you have the recipe for a well-rounded and knowledgeable team leader,” remarked Evans. “We are very fortunate to have her and I expect great things to continue to come after she officially takes the reigns and begins working side by side with our amazing faculty and staff.”
