Michelle Wessel Receives Kaskaskia College Outstanding Faculty Award

Kaskaskia College is proud to announce that Michelle Wessel of New Baden was recently named the 2019 Outstanding Faculty Member. 

Michelle joined the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Kaskaskia College in August 2014 as an Assistant Professor of PTA. In August 2018, Ms. Wessel assumed responsibilities for oversight of the program by assuming the role of Program Coordinator. During her time at Kaskaskia College regardless of her role, Ms. Wessel has embodied the mission and values of the College and consistently works to elevate the quality of the program for her students. Her dedication and passion can best be described by her students who say, “Ms. Wessel is there to help us. She holds us accountable for all the work we do and really strives to make sure we are not only working hard to be a better student, but also a better person.  She teaches in multiple ways so everyone can learn.”

In addition to her dedication to students, Ms. Wessel has also committed herself to being actively involved in college wide efforts. She has served as a lead faculty member in the role out of new initiatives such as credit hour compliance, participated in the Teachership Academy, assisted with open house events, and regularly works with area healthcare partners to ensure students receive the very best education reflective of industry practice. Ms. Wessel is always open and supportive of Kaskaskia College outreach and initiatives. She truly is a gifted Physical Therapist, talented educator, and excellent colleague at Kaskaskia College.
