Kaskaskia College is proud to announce that Jeanne Gustafson of Centralia has been given the 2019 Kaskaskia College Distinguished Service Award.
Jeanne was an employee of Kaskaskia College early in her career working in the Small Business Development Center and also Adult Education. She has been an Economic Developer with the City of Salem since 2014 and has worked tirelessly with the College to assist with several events including Manufacturing Month held in October and SCIGA’s Critical Skills Gap Summit. She has also partnered with Dean Nic Farley and President George Evans to help utilize TIF Dollars to pay for workforce training at area industries and co-spoke at TIF Conferences to State Leaders.
In 2009 she was named Economic Development Director of the Year, an award that is voted on by peers. She served on the Comptrollers Advisory Board on Governmental Affairs as well as The Enterprise Zone Association Board for 10 years.
Jeanne has worked in Economic Development for 30 years for the cities of Centralia, Mt. Vernon, Champaign, and Vandalia. For five years, she also assisted low-income people with their utility bills and food. She was instrumental in the Mission Salem Program assisting low-income families and the elderly.
She also was a past Chamber of Commerce Director in Vandalia. Jeanne has also worked with the Salem Lions Club to help with fundraising and planning an inclusive Playground as well as plays piano for Grace United Methodist Church.
