Q. What is the University Alliance of Kaskaskia College?
A. The University Alliance of Kaskaskia College is a
series of partnerships with public and private colleges and universities offering
coursework and degrees in conjunction with Kaskaskia College.
Q. What degrees are offered? A. Bachelor's degree completion (Jr./Sr. level courses), master's
degrees and professional certificates are currently included in the offerings. See our Current
Alliances page for more information.
Q. Who will issue my degree? A. Your degree will be issued from the individual college or
university who offers your degree program, and will be identical to that same
degree offered on the institution's main campus.
Q. Can I start my bachelor's degree at Kaskaskia College? A. The University Alliance of Kaskaskia
College
offers bachelor's completion programs and, in most cases, only upper
division (junior and senior) level undergraduate courses. Admission requirements
vary from institution to institution, but generally include approximately 60
hours of undergraduate coursework and/or the equivalent of an associate degree.
You can complete your lower division coursework through Kaskaskia
College's associate's degree programs.
Q. Can I apply any life or work experience for credit
toward a bachelor's degree? A. Yes. Some of the
institutions allow credit for life experience that can be demonstrated to be
college equivalent through a portfolio process.
Q. Can I apply any life or work experience for credit
toward a master's degree? A. Rarely. Some of the institutions allow
credit for life experience, however, most master level
credit must be earned through appropriate level graduate
study.
Q. How do I register? A. Registrations are taken by the individual institutions, either in
person, by phone, or via the institution's web site.
Q. Who teaches University Alliance classes? A.
University Alliance classes are taught by faculty who
are on staff at the individual college or university who offers your degree
program at their main and satellite campuses.
Q. Is advising available? A. Yes, pre-admissions advising is available.

Q. What about financial aid and tuition reimbursement
from my employer? A. All of the University Alliance schools
offer financial aid. Contact each institution for more information. Contact
your employer for information on company tuition reimbursement.
Q. Where do I buy textbooks? A. Textbooks are purchased through the individual
college or university who offers your degree program.
Q. Are there any accelerated degrees available?
A. Yes, some institutions run on intensive term classes and more are planned for the coming years.
Q. I am not interested in completing a degree at this
time. Can I take courses as a student-at-large? A. Yes. In some cases you can take courses without being admitted to a
degree program. It's important to check with the individual school to find out
how many hours taken in a non-degree status will transfer toward a degree should
you choose to pursue a degree at a later date. |
