This program provides the education and experience to become an entry-level drafter in the technology field of Computer Aided Drafting. Students study graphic communication through technical drawings. They discover the benefits of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) in design, visualization, testing, analysis, manufacturing, assembly, marketing and 3-D modeling. An AutoCAD Certificate of Achievement is available to students who have returned to college to take only CAD classes

Drafting Outlook

The 21st century has liberated the role of the drafter to more useful and challenged assignments then ever before. Today’s CAD drafters work close with sales, manufacturing, purchasing, technical support, training or even presenting to customers. Society’s increasing insistence on computer literacy reinforces the need for computer drafting skills in related occupational fields such as construction, maintenance, landscaping, manufacturing, quality control, sales, design, research, technical support and engineering. Many new careers will exist in the future. In today’s classroom, one will find traditional students along with those who have returned to college to take only CAD classes. They find this training essential for future advancement within their chosen occupations. Our high tech world and need for quick responses will continue to develop new interrelated employment opportunities for today’s drafter and CAD operator.
