Doug Rommelman

Mr. Doug Rommelmann played for Kaskaskia College in 1975-1977. Doug hit .347 with an on base average of .407. He had 13 doubles, 14 triples, 7 homeruns, and 93 RBI. Doug played shortstop and also pitched 154 innings with a 11-10 record and 3.39 ERA. Opponents hit only .234 off of him. He was All Conference.
Doug was a two-year varsity letter winner and two-year starter on the infield for University of Illinois in 1978 and 1979. Doug was nominated All Academic Big Ten Conference for baseball his Junior year and was elected team captain by his teammates his Senior year. He appeared in 87 games, all but six of the games played in those two years, and was a career .268 hitter, hitting .288 in 1978 and .243 in 1979. Doug was the Fighting Illini’s second baseman in 1978 and everyday starter at first base in 1979. He also had one pitching appearance in 1978. A versatile player, he readily adapted to the needs of his team, and showed he was as skilled at covering third base, when team injuries necessitated this change in playing position.
Doug enjoyed success as an engineer designing offshore drilling/production platforms before returning to school to get a law degree. Doug currently resides in Houston, Texas where he practices Patent law.
