Title: Telecom Technician Outly
Location: Harrisburg, IL
Under general supervision, and usually working alone, to perform work of a technical nature involving communications/computer equipment in Company and related areas or properties; to keep abreast of details of equipment function, operation and use so as to be in a position to exercise correct judgment so that economic utilization of system generation, system protection, or system operation will not be impaired. To perform maintenance repair, adjustment, modification, and test work on communication/computer equipment when assigned; and to make new installations, removals, and re-installations of like equipment. In this connection to perform details of work on equipment utilizing advanced electronic techniques, test equipment and computer based programs. The work responsibilities will include categories such as transport systems (analog and digital Microwave, fiber optic transmission, multiplex systems,), network WAN/LAN, SCADA (electric and gas), PBX and Phone systems and circuits, Communications facilities maintenance (battery systems, tower light systems, etc.) two-way radio and mobile/wireless data systems.
Successful completion of an Associate's Degree at an accredited college, junior college or technical school in the school's electronic or telecommunication technology program or equivalent military telecommunications certification. In lieu of the aforementioned technical accreditation, an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college in a non-technical field, plus extensive experience performing telecommunications-related installations, maintenance and operations will be considered.
A Federal Communications Commission General Radiotelephone Operator License, or a comparable Industry/Trade Association certification, which is acceptable to the Company, indicating competence in repair, installation, adjustment and maintenance of communication devices utilized by the Company.
Must live within 30 miles of Harrisburg, Illinois on normally traveled roads
Two years of experience in maintenance work on telecommunication or electronic equipment
Employees may be required to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at the discretion of the Company.
Employee will be subject to DOT Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration random drug testing.
