• U.S. Citizenship or Legal Alien status

• Must possess valid Driver’s License

• High School Diploma or GED

• Residency required within the state of Illinois

• Must have a current Police Officer Certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board

• Must currently be a police officer in good standing in a law enforcement agency in the state of Illinois or have been separated for no more than 12 months prior to the date of application deadline (4/1/13)- If the latter, the separation shall not have been for cause

• Must have served continuously as a full-time, non-probationary certified police officer in the state of Illinois for a minimum of one year

• Must have substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a current non-probationary police officer in the Village of Manhattan

• 21 to under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2013 unless otherwise exempt by statute

• Mandatory orientation and written examination on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Manhattan Junior High, 15606 W. Smith Road, Manhattan, IL 60442 . Candidates must arrive by 8:30 a.m. with photo identification to sign-in. Orientation will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and testing will immediately follow.
