The Engineer will be assigned primarily to the Coffeen Energy Center in Coffeen, IL. Travel to other energy centers, Resource Centers, and other locations may be required of the successful candidate as part of their job function. Key responsibilities include:

- Possess and maintain technical skills to proficiently work in the following areas: Large transformers, switchgear and electrical systems, NERC/SERC compliance technical support, electrical codes and standards compliance, instruments and controls support, condition based maintenance for electrical equipment, operations analysis support, low and medium voltage motors and motor controls, plant general electrical services, main and auxiliary generators and auxiliaries, generator exciters, voltage regulators, iso-phase busses, DC systems station batteries, battery chargers, protective relaying, outage support, plant emergency support, power circuit breakers, grounding systems and lightening protection, motor control centers, medium voltage cable.

- Lead the checkout and start-up of new equipment; lead and support maintenance and troubleshooting of existing plant equipment; support company and plant sponsored programs; make engineering recommendations to improve plant processes and programs.

- Develop engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates, and preliminary designs associated with initial development and budgeting of projects. Upon project authorization, perform detailed design and work with drafting to complete drawings, prepare requisitions and specifications for equipment and construction contracts, analyze proposals, produce cost and schedule estimates, lead or assist in the planning and coordination of projects.

- Efficiently and effectively interact with Company and Plant management, Company and plant engineers, Ameren and Power Operations and maintenance groups, vendors, contractors and architect /engineering firms.


Education:  Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate and Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.

Experience:  Three or more years of electrical power engineering experience in a Power Plant or relative industry/military experience preferred. Field experience or power system study experience is preferred.

Other:  Good analytical, communication, and human relation skills required. Some travel between plants and general office building.  Weekend and holiday coverage required on an as needed basis.
