Title: Apprentice Operator

Location: Canton, IL

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Located at the Duck Creek Energy Center in Canton, Illinois.

The Apprentice Operator is responsible for the operations and maintenance of equipment, including, but not limited to:  steam generators and steam turbine auxiliary equipment.  The Apprentice Operator position also requires a variety of cleaning and associated functions.  Apprentice Operator personnel must be flexible and able to adapt to changing work schedules and work assignments. The Apprentice Operator position works a swing shift schedule, including overtime, weekends and holidays to support the plant.

The Apprentice Operator duties include but are not limited to equipment cleaning, greasing, painting, maintenance of plant equipment, heavy lifting, manual labor, climbing and working in hot, cold, dirty environments.

The Apprentice Operator must be able to work in a team environment.

The Apprentice Operator must attend training as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Ability to work shift work

Ability to climb ladders, lift and carry heavy loads, perform manual labor.

Ability to adapt to varying work schedules and assignments, learning to satisfactorily complete a variety of job duties

Ability to work in areas involving heights, enclosed spaces, and near or above water.

Must be willing to join IBEW Local 51.

Experience

Previous power plant experience or experience in a related field preferred.

Previous shift work experience

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

Must take and receive a recommended status on the POSS test
