The Maschhoffs, one of the largest independent pork producers in the US, is looking for a Research & Innovation Associate who will be responsible for executing research protocol procedures and collecting data in wean-to-market and breed-to-wean facilities within The Maschhoffs production system. The R & I Associate will be required to travel to numerous sites and work with production staff to collect the data mainly in the area of genetics research. 

Function: Research & Innovation
Responsibilities:
 
•Execution of research protocols in diverse commercial environments.
•Allotment of pigs to research studies.
•Manage and oversee breeding processes.
•Identification and measurement of pigs at various stages of production.
•Pen and individual pig weighing
 Subjective scoring of specific traits on individual animals.
-Data collection as needed and as available based on needs of the R & I team.
-Data entry
-Data verification
 
Requirements:
Minimum of a 4 year degree or equivalent work experience.

Knowledge of:
-Computer operations
-Windows, Microsoft office and Outlook operation
-Animal biology with emphasis on production practices used for swine.

Skill in:
-Computer/typing skills
-Verbal and written communication
-Research and protocol execution
-Attention to detail

Ability to:
-Lift at least 100 lbs and work on hard floors all day
-Follow written protocols
-Perform duties outside typical work hours when necessary
-Detail work and observations
-Organize, lead and make decisions using critical thinking
-Spend nights away from home
-Work occasional weekends
