The nursing profession is predicted to be one of the careers that will continue to have record job openings into 2020. There are currently over 200,000 nursing vacancies across the US and it is predicted to be 400,000 as 78 million baby boomers enter the already taxed healthcare arena. Nurses today have opportunities to work in skilled care, acute care, community health agencies and multiple offices and clinics. Traveling nurses can select the city/state they wish to practice in and move again six months later. Educational opportunities allow nurses to work full-time while gaining advanced degrees. With the varying shift options, nurses can select to work five eight-hour days, three ten-hour days or 3 twelve-hours days to meet obligations of families. Hospitals are providing hiring packages that include tuition reimbursement, new cars and high salaries. Kaskaskia College nursing programs are proud to be a part of educating future nurses.
