KC Alumnus Trisha Bach Credits KC for her Start

04/16/2018

Kaskaskia College graduate Trisha Bach believes Kaskaskia College has the tools, mentors, and environment students can leverage to gain experience and knowledge for a successful career.

Bach, a 2011 Breese Central graduate, attended KC after her high school graduation and graduated in 2013 earning four degrees including the Associate of Engineering Science, Associate of Science, Associate of Arts and Associate of General Studies.

While at KC, she earned a scholarship to run cross country, and also was secretary for the Kaskaskia Engineering Association and a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.  As a student athlete, she and her teammates were named NJCAA Division 1 All-Academic Team of the Year in 2011 and NJCAA Division 1 Academic Team in 2012. She was also named as an Academic American runner in both years.

Upon completion of Kaskaskia’s 2+2 Engineering Program, she transferred to Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Mathematical Studies.  She is currently the Operations Performance Manager for Nestle Purina's dry pet food factory located in Flagstaff, Arizona.

“?My education with Kaskaskia College started as a high school student where I was able to obtain dual credit for the work I completed. Kaskaskia College provided me with a 2+2 program that ensured my credits transferred and guaranteed me a position in SIU-Edwardsville's Engineering program,” Bach says.

Bach adds that she feels that “The faculty at Kaskaskia College drive their students to success with passion and ensure there is a return on each student's educational investment”.

When asked about specific people who made a difference in her life, she says, “Coach Mike Hargis and Coach Bruce Fischer made a difference in my life. They taught me about hardwork, commitment, and rapport. The dedication these two individuals have towards their runners is inspiring. They have molded a program for runners to join that provides family-like bonds and support with an emphasis on education”.

She says that she chose to start her education at Kaskaskia College for several reasons including, program availability, financial advantages, and the athletic opportunity. “Kaskaskia College offers a great 2+2 Engineering program with SIU-Edwardsville, an affordable and ABET accredited institution. Kaskaskia College is an affordable college with numerous available scholarships. I was also fortunate to run on the Women's Cross-Country Team which provided me with a scholarship and overall cost savings as well as life-long friends and memories. Along with the scholarship, friends, and memories I also gained skills you don't receive in the classroom. I learned to prioritize my objectives, time management, and effective planning”.
