Kaskaskia College Agriculture students recently attended the National PAS (National Postsecondary Agricultural Student Organization) Conference in Boise, ID. Students winning Illinois State PAS honors qualified for this event. Over 600 students attended from across the nation from agriculture programs at 2 and 4-year schools.
The Dairy Specialist Team received 1st place including Addy Brennan (Trenton) – 3rd Individual, Emily Irwin (Belvidere) – 1st Individual. This is now the fourth consecutive national winning team in this contest.
The College Bowl Team consisting of Courtney Gerstenecker, Samantha Sandy-Sinclair (Greenville), Blake Uchitjil, Lorri Albert (Mulberry Grove) and Emily Irwin also received 1st Place.
Students winning National PAS awards include: Ben Wiegmann (Breese) - Plant Systems Career Planning – 3rd Place; Dylan Guenzburger (Carlyle) - Power, Structural, & Technical Systems Career Planning – 1st Place; Chelsea Jean (Cissna Park) - Ruminant Animal Systems Career Progress – 2nd Place; Blake Uchitjil (Odin) - Agricultural Education Career Progress – 2nd, Food Science & Safety Specialist – 1st Place; Elizabeth Donoho (Salem) - Agribusiness Non-Retail Career Progress – 3rd Place and Agribusiness Non-Retail Employment Interview – 1st Place; Courtney Gerstenecker (Carlyle) - Agricultural Education Career Progress – 1st Place and Agribusiness Management & Marketing Employment Interview – 1st Place.
Others competing were Amy Thole (Carlyle) and Jenna Hilmes (Breese).
