Kaskaskia College is pleased to announce that former baseball player Jon Behrens was inducted into the KC Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday.
Jon Behrens came to Kaskaskia College from Carlyle High School where he played for Coach Gary Wheeler. Jon played baseball at Kaskaskia College from 1989-91 and during his career recorded very impressive stats. Jon had a batting average of .320, 28 doubles, four triples, 17 home runs, 106 RBIs and an on base average of .408. Jon was selected to play in the Junior College All-Star Game for the South Team at Springfield, Illinois and had a game of which most players dream. In the championship game for Region 24, Jon went four for five, hitting two home runs and five RBIs. In the bottom of the ninth, with his team trailing 9-7, Jon hit a three run homer to win the tournament with a final score of 10-9. He was named Most Valuable Player and was selected to the All Region Team. Jon continued his education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and is currently teaching Building Trade classes at Carlyle High School.
