The Kaskaskia College Trenton Campaign Steering Committee
met on Thursday, November 21 in its regular monthly meeting. The Committee, chaired by the Trenton Sun’s
Mike Conley, is tasked with fundraising for the new Trenton Education center,
which is currently under construction.
The Trenton Education Center, at 3,800 square feet, has
outgrown the space it occupied in the old Illinois Power building on old
Highway 50 in Trenton. The campaign
seeks to finish the fundraising for the new renovated and expanded Center,
which will house nearly 16,000 square feet of instructional and community
space, including a multi-use industrial laboratory, expandable classrooms, a
community computer lab, and three small business incubators. $53,078 remains to be raised to fully fund
Individual giving and private donations are being sought,
and the College has several events planned with proceeds going to the
project. These include a cash raffle, in
which 200 tickets are being sold for $100 each.
Half of the proceeds, $10,000 if all tickets are sold, will go to a
single winner with the other half reducing the total. A Trivia night contest is also being held on
December 7 at the Aviston American Legion Hall.
Tables for teams of up to ten people are available for $100. The winner of the cash raffle will also be
drawn that evening. In addition, a Tea
is in the planning stages for the spring with proceeds benefitting the Center.
The College is embarked on a paver campaign as well. Donors may purchase a 4” by 8” brick paver,
inscribed with a message of the donor’s choice, for $150, while an 8” by 8”
paver can be purchased for a donation of $300.
These pavers will be featured as part of the new entrance to the Center.
