Kaskaskia College Christmas Concert is December 3

The Kaskaskia College music department will present its Christmas Concert on Tuesday, December 3rd at 7:30pm in the Jane Knight Auditorium. The concert will feature the Kaskaskia College Concert and Jazz Bands under the direction of Professor Cliff Jourdan.

 

Concert Highlights include:

A Christmas Festival, by Leroy Anderson. This is an updated arrangement of holiday favorites featuring Joy to the world, Deck the Halls, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Good King Wenceslas, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night and Jingle Bells. Also, an exciting piece based upon the familiar Ukrainian Bell Carol, Fantasia for Christmas by Elliot Del Borgo, A Celtic setting of the tune What Child Is This? arranged by Robert W. Smith titled Celtic Carol, Stan Applebaum’s Toboggan Ride and a modern treatment by Rick Kirby of the beloved carol Silent Night called Winter’s Night.

 

Jazz Band Highlights include:

Hot Chocolate featured in the movie The Polar Express by Glenn Ballard & Alan Silvestri, Jingle Bells performed in the style Diana Krall featuring vocalist Barbara Rumbold, I can’t Stop Loving You as recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra, Bye Bye Blackbird arranged by Dean Mounts for big band and vocal quartet featuring Professor Cliff Jourdan, Tom Baker, Mike Littrel and Michael Philyaw, and We Three Kings arranged by Alan Baylock

 

Beginning at 6:45pm, children will be able to have their picture taken with Santa Claus and enjoy cookies and cocoa while waiting to attend the concert at 7:30pm.

 

The concert is free and open to the public with a reception to immediately follow in the student center.
