Kaskaskia College is proud to announce that it established an agreement with Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville to offer the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer’s Training Corp) Program for KC students. The partnership will offer valuable opportunities to local students for academic programming, leadership skills and a military commission in the Army.
According to KC President Dr. Jim Underwood, “Kaskaskia has continually been recognized as a military friendly college and we feel that this partnership is consistent with the College’s mission and sense of patriotism.”
The purpose of this agreement is to make the Army ROTC Basic Course available to qualified KC students. Instruction in Military Science I and II and 30 hours of leadership laboratory will be provided by SIUE’s ROTC cadre. The courses are designed to develop leadership and self-confidence and will offer students the opportunity for scholarships, leadership training and career opportunities after graduation. Each course offers classroom instruction, leadership labs and physical fitness training.
Participation in the program will not obligate students for future military services in the US Army. However, if a student decides to serve in the Military, they will be provided opportunities for scholarships and other compensation to further their education in their junior year.
