After scoring more than 1,000 points in his career and leading his team to a regional championship his senior season, Steeleville¹s Darin Winkelman will continue his basketball career at Kaskaskia College.
The 6'5 Winkelman recently signed a letter of intent to play for the Blue Devils. “I like the coaching staff and the campus there,” said Winkelman. “I had a good visit there, and it just seemed like a good fit for me.” Winkelman choose Kaskaskia over SWIC and Morthland College.
“I am excited about the future, and I am ready to go out and play basketball,” said Winkelman.
Winkelman a solid inside force with a nice outside shooting touch will make a great addition to Kaskaskia, according to head coach Brian Hancock.
“We loved his aggressiveness both offensively and defensively,” said Hancock of Winkelman. “He attacks the basket strong but can also knock down the outside shot. He brings a lot of energy on both ends of the floor.” Darin is the son of Darryl and Phyllis Winkelman of Steeleville.
