Jean Cruse served in the US Navy during World War II. It was during this time of serving his country that he learned the trade and worked as an Electrician First Class. His wife, of sixty-seven years, Ruth, worked in the Healthcare Profession for thirty-two years. She was employed in physician offices in the communities of Sandoval and Centralia. Jean and Ruth have two daughters who are both nurses.
This scholarship was established in memory of Jean and in honor of Ruth. They believe in the importance of education and want to assist students in achieving their education goals.
The following criteria were established for this award: Applicants may be a part time or full time student enrolled at Kaskaskia College, applicants must be in pursuit of a certificate in Electrical Technology or a degree in Nursing, applicant must submit a personal letter indicating their reasons for applying for the scholarship and their future goals,and recipient must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher to remain eligible for the award.
This scholarship is for $500 and will be credited to the recipient’s account at Kaskaskia College to be used for tuition, fees, books, and course related supplies purchased through the Kaskaskia College Bookstore, childcare provided by the Kaskaskia College Children’s Learning Center, and food tokens to be used in the Kaskaskia College Cafeteria.
