Question: I want to start my own business, where do I start?
Answer: You may start by attending some small business workshops offered through the ISBDC, visit our office, or schedule a one-on-one counseling appointment.
Question:What are the ISBDC fees?
Answer: All counseling services are offered FREE of charge and confidential. Nominal fees are charged for workshops and seminars.
Question:I'm looking for a loan and would like to explore possibilities through the SBA or state programs. Can ISBDC help?
Answer:Most government ''loans'' through SBA and state programs are guarantees to banks rather than direct loans to businesses.
These programs are quite effective and do not deserve the 'horror stories' many people have heard about them.
However, these loans are not for everyone. The lending programs generally work through banks, require collateral, equity (owner) investment, a business plan and other supporting documents.
Preparation is key to successful borrowing. Call the ISBDC offices to discuss your needs, and we'll advise you on the processes.
Question: Does the ISBDC write business plans for people?
Answer: No, we do not write them, but we will help you step-by-step during the process. We will review, critique, and help you 'fine tune' the final Plan. We can also direct you to a multitude of resources that can help you through the process.
