Individuals who wish to provide support for students with financial need or academic talent are encouraged to
establish a scholarship. Currently Kaskaskia College, through the Kaskaskia College Foundation, provides
forty-six scholarships annually. As the fastest growing college in Illinois and fourth fastest growing
college in the nation, more and more students look to scholarships to help offset the cost of their
education.
Scholarships can be established as an Endowed or Annual Scholarship. This is a decision made by the donor.
The first step in establishing a scholarship is that the donor consider what type of student is to benefit
from the scholarship. Does the student need to maintain a defined academic standard? Are there geographical
boundaries as to the student chosen for the scholarship? Does the student need to demonstrate financial need?
Is the student required to be a full time or part time? Is it necessary for the student to be pursuing a
particular course of study? These are just a few of the possible criteria a donor may wish to consider
when establishing a scholarship.
Once established the Kaskaskia College Foundation will interview students who apply for scholarships and
based on the criteria set forth by the donor award scholarships to the most deserving students.
