Student Grants
Federal Pell Grant
Gift aid based on need. The federal government and your enrollment status calculate your
Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The Pell Grant may cover tuition, fees, books, supplies and miscellaneous
expenses. After tuition and fees are deducted from your Federal Pell Grant, you may purchase textbooks and supplies
related to your coursework through the college bookstore. No books can be charged after the fourth week of classes.
If you have any remaining funds, a check will be mailed to you after the eighth week of classes. Checks are mailed to
the address you have on file with Admissions. Make sure this address is correct.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
Students who have eligibility for a Federal Pell
Grant may be considered for this grant. Due to limited funds, priority is given to students with exceptional need who
have completed their financial aid files early. FSEOG will first be applied to any tuition and fees owed the college.
Check disbursement policies are the same as for the Federal Pell Grant.
Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) Monetary Award Program (MAP) Grant
This award is based on need
and Illinois residency of at least one year prior to the beginning of the academic year. To receive full year
consideration a student must complete the FAFSA by the priority dates of May 31, 2008 for continuing students and
September 30, 2008 for new students. Kaskaskia College must be listed as first school of choice on the FAFSA.
Students will receive an eligibility letter from ISAC. The MAP grant covers tuition only. Tuition includes
in-district costs up to 15 eligible credit hours for a full-time student and up to 11 eligible credit hours for a
part-time student. The payment is credited to the student’s account. MAP will not cover enrollment of less than 3
credit hours, lab and miscellaneous fees, books, supplies, or ineligible programs.
Illinois Incentive for Access Grant (IIA)
Freshmen students who have a zero (0) EFC and are enrolled at
least halftime may also have eligibility for the $500 IIA grant. This amount can only be received once and is divided
into two payments, one for each semester the student is eligible. The application process and requirements are the
same as the MAP grant. Funds are awarded to the student when they are received by the institution.
Illinois Veteran Grant (IVG)
This grant covers tuition and certain fees for courses taken at state funded
institutions by Veterans who were residents of Illinois prior to and after military service, who served at least one
year of active duty and who received an honorable discharge. If you are eligible to receive IVG, you may not receive
MAP.
