Nail Technology Curriculum
The Kaskaskia College Nail Technology Program has the outstanding reputation of offering students a wonderful,
well-rounded program. Our balanced curriculum focuses equally on theory and lab classes. You will be trained in
all areas of natural and artificial nail services. We begin each new class with a 2 day, in-house orientation
where new students are orientated on specific rules and regulations of the program, dress code, student
conduct, curriculum, etc. Students will have 3 weeks of hands-on experience perfecting techniques before
going to the clinic floor to work on the public. We also offer students the opportunity to customize their
education with optional advanced classes taught in addition to the basic curriculum. This allows students to
specialize and focus on the area of cosmetology that interests them the most or develop areas they feel
weak in.
Student Kit & Books
Kaskaskia College Nail Technology students are required to purchase the KC Nail Technology Student Kit.
This kit consists of equipment and supplies they will use throughout their training. This equipment is
professional, salon-quality; durable items and supplies are of professional standards. Students will receive
the most current edition of Milady textbooks available at the bookstore. The price of your kit will be a one time
charge built into your tuition.
Student Uniform & Appearance
To ensure unity and professionalism all Kaskaskia College Nail Technology students are required to wear one of
the approved uniform options to class. One option that is supplied through the Kaskaskia College Bookstore
consists of a white scrub top with the Kaskaskia College Nail Technology logo on the left shoulder and black
scrub pants. Other approved optional uniforms are acceptable and are outlined in the department’s rules and
regulations. Students will be required to start wearing uniforms during their second week of their training.
Nail Technology students are expected to display a professional appearance throughout class and clinic times.
Students will be graded and evaluated on their appearance and professional image throughout their
training.
Nail Technology Clinic Floor Experience
Once you have completed your first 3 weeks of training, you will be able to perform nail services on the public
in a professional salon setting. To prepare students for the salon industry and teach them tools to develop
strong marketing, each student is required to recruit new clients during their training.
