Leadership Development (LEAD-150)
2013 Spring
Location: Online

Description: This course is a multi-disciplinary humanities approach which applies the principles of critical thinking by using experiential learning exercises to weave together behavioral science principles, classic works of literature and contemporary multi-cultural writing with the goal of promoting a deeper understanding of leadership. It is designed to foster the development of leadership abilities in students by providing a basic understanding of the historical perspectives of leadership and group dynamics theory, by raising awareness of the ethical responsibilities of leadership and by assisting the student in developing personal philosophies of leadership which help them gain insight into their own leadership styles. A key component of the course is the development of student communication skills through the use of writing assignments, reflective journal responses, and oral presentations.
